Wellington

Welcome to Wellington. New Zealand's cool little capital is a vibrant city, full of natural beauty spots and cultural offerings. This link will take you to a very informative site about sights, events and accommodation: Discover Wellington. It is regularly up-dated, so do revisit it closer to your trip.

Here are a few things about Wellington you need to know before you pack your bags.

In July it will be mid-winter. It will be cold, it may well rain, and Wellington is famously windy. So a warm jacket, waterproof shoes, and a hood or hat are advisable. Open an umbrella at your own risk!

Wellington has a thriving café culture. You never have to go very far to find a little café or a coffee cart. The average price of a cappuccino is $4.50.

Many Wellington restaurants offer a BYO drinks option (this means wine & beer only, not spirits). This is not the case in restaurants that function also as bars or pubs. But you will usually be able to bring your own bottle of wine to a Chinese or Indian restaurant (of which there are many).
