About VUW

Victoria University of Wellington is situated in Kelburn, a suburb just up the hill west of the the city centre. See below for maps of the campus and how to get there.

On a nice day you can walk up one of the sets of steps from the CDB to the University. There are also several Metlink bus services to and from downtown. Please note: timetables are due to change drastically from July 15.

The Wellington Cable Car stops near the University on its way from the CBD to the Botanic Garden. The Cable Car runs every 10 minutes, Mon-Fri from 7 am to 10 pm; Sat from 8.30 am to 10 pm; Sun from 8.30 am to 9pm.

A short walk or bus ride up the hill from the University will take you to Wellington's beautiful ecosanctuary Zealandia.

Where to go:

All events at VUW will be held in the Hunter Building, which can be accessed through obvious entrances from both sides of the building. Registration, morning and afternoon teas and lunch will be held in the Hunter Common Room on the first floor (200 level) of Hunter Building. The conference opening, key note addresses and the AGM will take place in the Hunter Council Chamber, which can be accessed from the end of the Hunter Common Room.

Paper sessions will take place in the Hunter Council Chamber, Hunter Lecture Theatre 119 and Hunter Lecture Theatre 220. The latter two are on the first and ground floor of Hunter Building (southern end of the building). To get to the two lecture theatres from the Hunter Common Room, you will need to go downstairs to the ground floor (100 level), turn right and follow the passage to the very end where you will find HU LT 119. For HU LT 220 go up one floor from here (the staircase is to your right) and turn right at the landing off the stairs.
