Urban and regional transport demand has reached a dimension incompatible with the space capacity of urban areas, environmental protection needs, and citizen security/safety. Indeed, high traffic flows induce social impacts and significant diseconomies and inefficiencies in goods and services production/transportation and people movements in urban areas.
In this context, management, policies and measures for smart and green LML play a relevant role. Indeed, they are fundamental in the definition and implementation of efficient and effective strategies for designing, managing, and controlling an integrated urban system. Their final goal can be summarized in guaranteeing high quality level of urban mobility and a sustainable development of the city.
In this wide-ranging aim, ACHILLES project is aimed at fostering such a sustainable development pursuing three main objectives:
1. Decreasing carbon footprint in LML by electrical vehicles
2. Improving LML by unmanned aerial vehicles
3. Supporting LML by logistics facilities
