About Ananta Acharya
Ananta Acharya is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU). Before joining ENMU, he completed postdoctoral research in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Utah State University (USU), where he was actively involved in the MathBio Research Group and the Applied Mathematics–Education Research Group.
Dr. Acharya earned his Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in August 2023 under the supervision of Dr. Ratnasingham Shivaji. Prior to his doctoral studies, he completed both a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Mathematics at Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
His research focuses on differential equations, particularly nonlinear elliptic boundary value problems and mathematical ecology. He studies steady-state reaction–diffusion models arising in population dynamics, with special attention to the effects of boundary conditions and external environmental hostility. His work emphasizes the analysis of positive solutions and the interaction between equation parameters and boundary behavior.
In addition to his research, Dr. Acharya has been teaching undergraduate-level mathematics courses since 2010, including hybrid and online formats. Outside of academia, he enjoys playing table tennis and traveling to new places.
