About me (Ananta Acharya)
I currently serve as a temporary Assistant Professor of Mathematics, holding the role of a Postdoctoral researcher, within the Mathematics and Statistics department at Utah State University (USU). My current academic endeavors involve active participation in both the Mathbio-research group and the Applied Math-Education research group at USU.
I earned my doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in August 2023 under the supervision of Dr. Ratnasingham Shivaji. Prior to joining UNC-Greensboro, I earned my Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree, Master of Arts (M.A) degree in Mathematics from Tribhuvan University Nepal. In 2018, I joined Department of Mathematics & Stat. at University of North Carolina, Greensboro to pursue PhD in Computational Mathematics. I have taught various undergraduate-level mathematics classes since 2010 including hybrid and online classes.
My research focuses on Differential Equations (Nonlinear Elliptic Boundary Value Problems) and Mathematical Ecology (Steady State Reaction-Diffusion Equations modeling population dynamics, including the density-dependent dispersal on the boundary and effects of exterior matrix hostility). In particular, I study positive solutions to classes of steady-state reaction-diffusion equations where a parameter influences the equation as well as the boundary conditions.
In addition to the teaching and research, I like to play table tennis and visit different places.
