Adopt #3 | Ms. Nora 

Ms Nora is the person you pay rent to every month. She is a large, older woman who lives by herself in apartment #1 and mostly hangs out in the security booth day to day. This character exists in a mostly hot climate, a rural fringe of a larger city, with places mostly within walking distance. You can often find her lying on a mat, smoking, while watching dramas on a dinky little TV. Inhabitants are encouraged to pester her with any issues they have with their apartments. 

She likes to live frugally, so she kinda does the maintenance and upkeep of the building herself if she's able to do so. She does the gardening and janitorial work as well, in addition to being a handywoman. Despite being a very active individual, she has still managed to gain weight due to her poor diet and drinking habits. The apartment complex is not very large, and her tenants are mostly seasonal students attending university, so this also adds to a somewhat minimal workload compared to if she had to maintain a far larger building. At heart, her frugal living is tied to her laziness. It's simply that paying for things overcomes her desire to lie around all day and do nothing. She later gives in and hires a summer intern to take over most of the physical labor tasks, which has made her balloon in size.

Most of the story I've written of this character is strictly summer-themed, as the setting once again takes place someplace warm. And a few of them were regarding the apartment's air conditioning breaking down due to the summer heat. During my summer last year, I spent half of it staying with a relative who refused to turn on the air conditioning because it was unnecessary, and the urban heat island was in full effect, which was a voluntary hell. And for the other half of my stay, the air conditioning would break as the power would go out due to so many people using it. I did not experience conditioned outside of shopping outlets and restaurants, which I would frequent in order to alleviate heat headaches. 

I combined both of these ideas to make Ms. Nora have a higher heat tolerance due to her age, and she rarely has functioning air conditioning in her building, as she deems it to be unnecessary. Often leading to Ms Nora having an aroma of sweat and cigarette smoke, which she has become blind to both. Ms. Nora enjoys eating spicy fish stick snacks, pickles, and barbecue. She can often be bribed with this food to give special attention to your unit. More hot water for a longer shower, general maintenance on short notice, or maybe even allow conditioned air in your unit. Food bribes will not get you out of paying rent, however.

I am parting ways with this character, as the characters I had interacting with her have now moved into a different apartment building, as they could no longer stand Ms Nora's antics. She is now available to house and disrupt your other characters.
