This should be a quick lesson. We have five verbs here, one for each of the five senses of the body: sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste.
look | smell | feel | sound | taste
We have three different formulas depending on the part of speech:
Sense verb + adjective
Sense verb + like + noun
Sense verb + as if + clause
1) Sense verb + adjective
You look tired.
This prahok tastes salty.
Flowers usually smell good.
2) Sense verb + like + noun
You look like my father.
This soup tastes like chicken.
Stop singing. Your voice sounds like a garbage crusher.
3) Sense verb + as if + clause
I’m so tired. It feels as if I’ve just run a marathon.
Take a shower. You smell as if you haven’t bathed in a year.
This chicken tastes as if it’s gone bad.
