Established in 2021, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee seeks to understand the challenges faced by the economics profession in Atlantic Canada, as well as potential solutions that are tailored to the region. This may include:
promoting the work and achievements of economists in Atlantic Canada, particularly those from equity-deserving groups;
elucidating the role of economists in advancing science and policy related to diversity, equity and inclusion;
disseminating economic research on issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion;
sharing teaching experiences and resources to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion in economics education; and
facilitating professional development activities for current and prospective economists, especially those from equity-deserving groups.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee operates with support from the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Canada Economics Association. In addition, we are pleased to work with and learn from the Canadian Economics Diversity Committee and Canadian Women Economists Committee.
