Class overview
In this special topics seminar course students learn contemporary accounting careers and how emergent technologies are used in the profession. The course focuses on enhancing skills necessary to succeed as professional accountants.
About me
Jacob Peng is the department head and Richard J. Harshman professor of accounting in the Department of Accounting & Taxation, School of Business at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh. Before he joined RMU in 2014 he was an assistant and tenured associate professor of accounting at the University of Michigan-Flint. He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration with an accounting concentration from Texas Tech University. Prior to his doctoral work he earned an M.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and worked in the IT field. Dr. Peng’s research interest focuses on the behavioral impact of information technologies and how technologies affect the dissemination of accounting information. His work has been published in a number of scholarly journals. He currently serves as the president of the American Accounting Association Mid-Atlantic Region, and on the editorial board of the Review of Accounting and Finance.
Dr. Peng is a respected teacher-scholar. He has been active in curricular advances as he has engaged in undergraduate accounting, MBA, and M.S. in Taxation curricular design at RMU.
Dr. Peng is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and is a member of American Accounting Association, ISACA, Institute of Management Accountants and Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs.
