Prof. Somnath Roy
Somnath Roy is an Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP). He works primarily in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), particularly on topics like Immersed Boundary Methods (IBM), Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) & Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) for turbulence modelling in complex geometries, fluid–structure interaction, and low Reynolds number aerodynamics. His research addresses complex flow phenomena in biomedical, aerodynamic, and industrial systems. He also contributes to high-performance computing (HPC) and advanced numerical techniques for fluid–structure interaction problems.
