she, her, hers
I am currently studying English Education and have a minor in Political Science. My passion for education derives from my love for school and desire to learn and know.
I am originally from Aurora, Colorado and grew up with two educator parents who are CSU Alum (Go Rams!) who are the originating role models in my quest towards becoming a teacher. I enjoy being involved at CSU, as I am a part of the cheerleading team and enjoy working at the Lory Student Center.
My love for the English concentration came at an early age, as I have always loved reading and find nothing more satisfying and freeing than closing a book for the last time. The passion, love, and expertise of my English teachers in high school demonstrated how much a single individual can change one's life. I aim to do the same thing for my future students.
he/they
I am currently pursuing an English Education degree at CSU. I have always had a passion for English and language that was first ignited by some of my favourite English teachers throughout my academic career.
I was born in Fort Collins, CO but grew up in Toronto, ON where I received dual citizenship. Since then, I have traveled extensively and hope to bring some of my international experience and unique perspectives to the classroom. In my literary career, I have been an editor for the Front Range Review literary magazine for the past two years working alongside a passionate and inspiring team of creative and authentic people.
I have been writing poems since elementary school but did not really find my voice in poetry and writing until I found it vividly in my first high school literature class. Since then, I have published over a dozen chapbooks and have become a published poet, always looking for new voice and finding plenty of it in education. I see the classroom as a stanza of which every student is an essential line. Thought and learning is collective and reflective and that energy that sparks when minds come together fuels my creativity and solidifies my love of language and my excitement to pass on that love.
they, them, theirs
I am a disabled and genderqueer educator. I plan to pursue graduate studies to further my career as a community educator with plans to teach composition and creative writing at a post secondary level after completing my BA in Creative Writing with independent studies in Secondary Education and Gender & Women Studies.
I am the recipient of the Karyn L. Evans Memorial Scholarship, three-time award winner of the JeffCo Schools Foundation Art Exhibition, and involved in numerous equity driven initiatives at Colorado State University including the Fostering Success Program (FSP), Pride Resource Center, #CallOutCSU, and Student Disability Center.
My undergraduate research has an emphasis on the challenges faced by disabled, neurodiverse, nonbinary, and transgender learners in secondary and post-secondary institutions.
When I'm not rolling around making change in my community I can be found on my tiny couch reading, drawing, working on my latest book, or watching reality TV with my fiance and our two cats.
