To create a comprehensive guideline that empowers event organizers to design and execute large-scale outdoor events that are inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to individuals of all abilities, fostering a sense of belonging and participation for everyone.
Our project aims to create a comprehensive framework for inclusive event design and implementation at Bruce's Mill Conservation Authority, with our following challenge question, “How do we ensure access and inclusion at all events hosted at Bruce's Mill, guided by universal design principles?”
This framework will include:
Accessibility Guidelines: Tailored recommendations/needs assessment for individuals with diverse disabilities.
Community Engagement: Strategies to foster partnerships and involve marginalized groups.
Practical Implementation: Actionable steps for integrating inclusive practices into
TRCA operations.
Supporting Research: Data and insights to inform our recommendations.
Supporting and supplemental information for Guidelines, Recommendations and Advice, Inclusion Notes, and Community Partnerships

By following these guidelines, we aim to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors to Bruce's Mill.

Bruce's Mill is a TRCA site which strives to forge a sense of connection with the natural world in the surrounding community and beyond. They do this through various programs for people of different ages, abilities, and interests, and events such as the Maple Syrup Festival.
