Complementary to Access4All, an ethical study on accessibility was completed by Hearther Nguyen, one of the leaders of the initiative.
The study is aimed at answering the question, "To what extent should the government be responsible for ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities in Alberta and Canada? And, to what extent should the responsibility be extended to private entities and the greater community?"
Hearther's research suggests that the responsibility for ensuring universal accessibility within Canada should neither rest with the government nor the private sector by itself, but should be shared between the two sectors through comprehensive provincial frameworks and grants for small to medium-sized businesses. Furthermore, local projects like Access4All should be initiated and supported by the community to narrow the gap between theoretical accessibility and lived experience.
