Each match will come up with an idea for a product (item), service, or app that you think is missing from the market today.
You will develop a business proposal and design the product/service/app.
After finalizing all the details, each match will put together a presentation and practice for the final pitch.
We will invite some of the senior people at Accenture to serve as our “Sharks” and we will have a special day dedicated to presentations and celebrating the hard work!
Part 1 (Session #2 11/1): Introduction & Brainstorm
Matches used the handout below to brainstorm ideas for a product (item), service, or app that they think is missing from the market and will improve people's lives.
After discussing and hashing out ideas, each match should have identified a topic to move forward with, but keep in mind, between now and the next session (11/15), matches have the chance to change their idea.
Part 2 (Session #3 11/15): Product Development
Matches used the handout below to develop a Business & Marketing Plan for their identified product (item), service, or app. This included assigning a name, slogan, mission statement, logo design, and cost details to their product. USE THE SLIDEDECK TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO ON THIS STEP!!!
All matches should at this point have finalized the product idea and will get an additional day to complete all steps on the Business & Marketing Plan, as well as get started on their Presentation/Product Mock-Up at the next program session (11/22).
Part 3 (Session #6 1/10/25): Presentation Prep
You are now going to focus on the visual part of your presentation.
SlideDeck**
Video
Pamphlets/Brochures
Mock-Up Product
You can use the Google Slides Template (see below) as a foundation, but start to discuss what visual aides will best sell my product/service/app to the Sharks?
Use Canva to create brochures or any graphic designs.
Use Mirro to wireframe an App
Draw on paper and use a scanning app to upload any images to your presentation.
At this stage, you will need to work on some of the project outside of program sessions!!
Part 4 (Session #9 2/21/25): Pitch Planning/Prep
It’s time to create your 2-3 min Pitch!
Once your Match is confident and content with Parts 1, 2, & 3, it is time to start crafting your Pitch you will share with the Sharks
Tip #1: Go to YouTube and watch a few Shark Tank Pitch/Proposals. Pay attention to the delivery, the questions they propose to the sharks, the demonstrations, the tone/demeanor of the presenters.
Both the Big and Little will need to talk for half/50% of the presentation. Do you split the work down the middle? Every-other slide? Or do you have another cadence in mind?
Tip #2: Less is More; Do not overthink it–try to get your point across in the easiest way possible. Assume the Sharks know nothing you are presenting to them. What will hook them? What will make them have the “Ah Ha!’ moment with your idea?
Keep in mind this will follow the flow of your presentation–that should help you!
YOU MAY USE NOTES DURING THE OFFICAL PITCH (ex. notecards, script, etc.)
Pomodoro/Scram Approach:
Spend no more than 15 mins watching Shark Tank Pitch examples, considering the prompts, and landing on how you want to start the Pitch.
Spend 10 Mins writing the 1st draft.
Spend 5 Mins practicing it and take notes on what should change.
Spend 5 Mins making changes.
Spend 5 Mins practicing it again** and when you are confident with the speech…
Spend 10 Mins determining who will say what and practice running through it 1:1.
Time permitting: In small groups (2 Matches/4 People), First Match will present to the other Match that will serve as the Sharks–after presenting, the “Sharks” can give their feedback and advice, and then swap roles and do the same thing again.
**If you need to make a 3rd Draft, continue until confident!
