LessScreen Privacy Policy

LessScreen does not create an account or include an analytics SDK. Tasks and productivity history are processed locally and are not transmitted to a developer-controlled server. If the user leaves the optional bottom sponsored card enabled, Google Mobile Ads and Google’s consent platform use Internet access to request and display an advertisement.

Data stored on the device

LessScreen stores task titles, notes, categories, priorities, due dates, completion state, reminder preferences, focus settings, and screen-session timestamps in the app’s private local storage. This data is used only to provide the app’s task, reminder, focus, report, and widget features.

Accessibility service

If the user voluntarily enables LessScreen’s accessibility service, it observes the package name of the foreground app. It does not request access to window content and is not designed to read typed text, passwords, messages, or form data. The service uses accessibility overlay windows to display the user’s screen-session timer, the cat-only animated Focus Cat, and priority-themed full-screen reminders above other apps. The cat contains no visible text; tapping it opens the most urgent open task, while a long-press hides it until the next reminder. Reminder windows include user-operated Completed, Snooze, Later, close, and emergency-close controls. The service uses foreground-app changes to intervene when a configured distracting app is opened during Night Guardian hours or optional Commitment Mode. Commitment Mode begins only after the user’s editable missed-reminder threshold and can leave selected distraction apps until the task is completed. When the user enables overdue enforcement, the service can also invoke Android’s lock-screen action for qualifying overdue tasks.

Accessibility-derived information is processed on-device, is not sold or shared, and is not used for advertising or profiling.

Usage access

If enabled, Android’s Usage Access API provides aggregate per-app foreground-time totals. LessScreen uses these totals to create the user’s on-device daily report. They are not transmitted.

Notifications and alarms

LessScreen schedules local alarms and notifications for user-created task reminders, Night Guardian routines, and the daily summary.

Optional advertising and consent

LessScreen can display one clearly labelled Google AdMob native advertisement at the bottom of the main app. Ads never appear inside the accessibility reminder, Focus Cat, floating timer, task-completion controls, or home-screen widget. LessScreen does not pass task titles, notes, completion data, screen-session history, accessibility-derived information, or Android Usage Access totals to Google Mobile Ads.

Google and its advertising partners may process advertising identifiers, IP address, device and app information, diagnostics, consent choices, and ad interaction information to provide, measure, protect, and—where the user has consented—personalize ads. The exact processing depends on the user’s region and choices. The app requests consent information at launch before requesting an ad when required. An Ad privacy choices control is available in Settings when Google reports that additional choices are required.

The user can switch off Bottom sponsored card in Settings. Doing so immediately removes and destroys the loaded ad and prevents new ad requests while the switch remains off. Consent choices may remain stored by Google’s consent SDK so they can be respected later. Data retention and deletion

Data remains in the app’s private storage until the user marks or deletes it, uses Erase all local data, or uninstalls the app. LessScreen disables Android cloud backup for its database and preferences.
