We *the P’s* agree that parts of the curriculum is rather shady, but DO NOT encourage a child to quit study. Homeschooling, you say? Be aware that a student will never exceed her teacher. Can YOU explain i.e pythagoras theorem or Ohm’s law? With all due respect, not all minds are bright. Make sure you don’t pass on your own stupidity to the next generation.
Up until now, you’ve been your parents child. Now you stand on the threshold of becoming your own person. All parents want the best for their child, but the child doesn't always agree on what’s best.
Venn’s advice is to choose a profession that interests you, because you’ll be doing it for the rest of your working life. Of course, income matters. Whether we like it or not, eventually most of us get a mortgage, rents and bills to pay. A hairdresser obviously doesn't earn as much as a physician. He probably won't make enough to travel the world, but a hairdresser that loves his job is happier than a doctor that hates his. A wealthy, but depressed doctor might not travel the world either.
I’m going to let you in on a secret; Venn has instructed me to gather survival equipment. I have a ‘doomsday stockpile’ in store somewhere. Not because there is a specific event coming, but because I will have to fend for myself if disaster hits. Venn has made it perfectly clear that even though I live next to an alien base, they won't save me. I’m on my own. So are you. If doomsday worries you, prepare for it. You don’t have to build a nuclear fallout shelter, just gather some survival stuff in a bag/box. Your government probably already has a preparation list for you. If not, I can send you the Norwegian one. Now, don’t be alarmed. Chances are you wont die in the ‘event’. You just have to survive the first couple of days till help arrives.
As of 2022: Nuclear disaster is one of the greatest threats in Northern Europe, with the Russians threatening to bomb power plants in Ukraine. If you’re under the age of 40, you might want to consider iodine tablets in case of nuclear disaster.
BIG NOTE: iodine as a vitamin supplement won't save you. You need to buy tablets specifically made for nuclear disasters. DO NOT take them unless your government instructs you to. Trust them on this.
Fun fact (or not so fun fact?): All Norwegian schools have iodine tablets in store for their pupils, just in case.
