Who is Sonia Kovalevsky (or Sofya Kovalevskaya)?
Sonia Kovalevsky was the first major Russian female mathematician, the first woman appointed to a full professorship in Northern Europe, and one of the first women to work as an editor for a scientific journal.
The Westminster College Mathematics Department and Math Club are proud to host Sonia Kovalevsky Middle and High School Mathematics Day this year in her honor.
What is SK Day?
SK Day is a free math enrichment day designed for 7th to 11th grade students to:
Explore mathematics topics that are unlikely to be covered in standard curriculum through interactive activities
Learn about opportunities that mathematics degrees prepare students for
Meet mathematics graduates and current mathematics majors to create a mathematics network
Enjoy mathematics together!

Logistic Information:
Lunch will be provided to all registered attendees including teachers/chaperones through the Westminster Dining Hall, though all participants are welcome to bring their own lunches as well.
Transportation to and from Westminster's Campus is not included. A link to a map of Westminster College's Campus can be found below. Visitor parking for the event will be in the lot behind Hoyt Science Center labeled (5) in the Westminster Campus Map.
