GCSEPod

Not sure how to use GCSEPod to revise? See below for some top tips. Then select the theme you want to revise when ready.

  1. Before watching the pod, brainstorm the vocabulary that you already know on the topic. Write down any new words from the video. Why not add these to a Quizlet Study Set?

  2. Use the videos to help to practise and improve pronunciation. Repeat the phrases from the pod after the native speaker.

  3. Strengthen your listening skills by closing your eyes or by scrolling the page down so you can't see the video while the pod is playing. Make notes about what you understand about the content without seeing the text, then replay the pod to check what you got and what you missed.

  4. Consolidate your reading skills by reading the transcript at the same time as listening. Just after the question, pause the video and see if you can answer it before pressing play again to check your answer.

  5. Work on your translation skills by pausing the video straight after a comprehension question when the segment containing the answer is highlighted. Translate the section into English then press play to check your answer.

  6. Analyse the model answer - what impressive features or higher structures have been used? Which parts fit the writing and/or speaking markscheme?

  7. Once your understanding of the content is secure, can you use the words or phrases from the pod in your own work? Can you do your own version of the pod? Can you think of ways in which the content of the pod could be improved further e.g. by adding someone else's opinion or a different time frame?

  8. Create a mindmap of the content to summarise key words and phrases from the pod.
