Visiting Assistant Professor in TESL/TEFL (Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language)
I worked in support of a five-year National Professional Development (NPD) grant (2.700 million) that takes eight cohorts of 15 public schools (from 3 public school districts St Louis, Ritenour, and Parkway) teachers each through the coursework and training needed to receive Missouri ELL/ESOL Certification and MA in TESL. In addition to teaching TESL courses, I assisted in the grant project research and in developing the curriculum for periodic Saturday Seminars that are focused on family and community engagement; promoting reflective practices; developing communities of practice. I trained 23 K12 in-service teachers on how to meet the needs of their increasingly diverse student population by providing relevant in-service professional development for teachers.
Courses that I have taught this term (Spring 1) included 2 ESOL Methods and SLA Theories for two different groups; Seminar for family and community engagement; (Spring 2) Curriculum Development using the SIOP model; Seminar for family and community engagement.
