Antibacterial surfaces have become very popular in recent years and got potential applications in many fields such as photovoltaic, health care, marine technology, food packaging industry etc. Antibacterial surfaces can be of two types: bactericidal which kills bacteria and bacteriostatic which slows down the growth of bacteria on the surface. There are many naturally existing bactericidal surfaces such as Dragon fly wing, Cicada wing that are very efficient in killing bacteria. Very sharp nano structures are present on these surfaces, which basically rupture the bacteria cell wall and kill the bacteria. In this work we are trying to test the bactericidal activity of nano-structured superhydrophobic surfaces against different kinds of bacteria.
