The Science of Entrepreneurship
The Science of Entrepreneurship
There are many meaningful parallels between academic pursuits and building a social enterprise. Both demand resilience, diligence, commitment, and consistency to achieve success. With patience, persistence, and practice, we can learn, adapt, and thrive in both disciplines!
#Ogapreneur ~ Abigail Gyamfi
In 2019, Abigail was one of the invited speakers to talk to over 1000 undergraduates at KNUST about achieving balance and success as a student, engineer and entrepreneur.
As a chemist in training, Abigail has always been driven by a passion for crafting solutions to problems. Back in 2016, she was constantly on the lookout for problems to solve in her college and give back to community. The academic year marked the peak of her volunteering with non-profit organizations to raise funds to support needy students, underprivileged individuals, and people with disabilities. Fortunately, in her junior year as a chemistry major, she founded a social enterprise called OGA Golden Solutions. Balancing her extracurricular commitments with academics was demanding, she resolved to excel! OGA Golden Solutions has been instrumental in shaping her into a STEM advocate and social entrepreneur.
OGA Golden Solutions empowered several youth in Ghana to design professional, industrial clothing and safety gear, contributing to economic empowerment and job creation. Abigail implemented effective systems to minimize occupational injuries and hazards, enhancing workplace safety. She collaborated, trained the production team in project management and its application in the optimization of resources to increase productivity. She supervised production and liaised with quality control team to ensure quality standards. Together with her team, they have empowered several youth to produce customized laboratory coats, medical scrubs, and safety gears for students, lecturers, and professors in schools, hospitals, and organizations across Ghana and abroad.
