The Lake Wilderness Preservation Association holds two annual lake cleanup events. They are held usually in the fall and spring. During these events members and volunteers work together to remove trash and other harmful debris from the lake, park, and surrounding roadways. All lake cleanups are coordinated with the City of Maple Valley and are open to the public. Cleanup events usually occur on weekends and are staged at the Lake Wilderness boat launch. Please contact us if you or your workplace is interested in organizing a cleanup activity for a team building day of service.

Volenteers will learn to identify plants and other aquatic species, both native and invasive while enjoying scenic landscapes. The following resouces will help you prepare for an invasive species patrol:
Members serve as stewards of the lake and coordinate with the City of Maple Valley and King County to provide technical assistance and data to assess the overall health of the lake. Routinely, our members sample water quality and temperature and report this information to the City and the County. If you are interested in learning more or volunteering in the capacity please contact us us for more details.
