We will reflect on why so many schools rush to teach phonics and discuss the developmental readiness required before phonics can be effective, in alignment with Curriculum for Wales.
We’ll delve into the five key areas that must be in place before phonics instruction can be effective, ensuring it is purposeful and aligned with each child's developmental stage.

There will be practical workshops throughout the session, offering participants the chance to experiment with engaging strategies such as developing phonological awareness through stories, rhymes, and playful activities.
