Welcome to the Curriculum, Learning and Teaching website. We hope this resource will be a useful place of all things professional learning for teachers and leaders across Swansea.

This resource is intended to be responsive in nature and will evolve and grow in response to the needs of schools and settings.

Our Abertawe vision for Curriculum, Learning and teaching emphasises the importance of strong leadership, targeted skill development, and a collaborative approach to educational improvement. We aim to create an environment where both educators and learners can thrive, with a clear focus on achieving excellent outcomes for all learners in Swansea.

Professional Learning Offer Calendar

Instructions for using calendar:

Select the appropriate month by using the forwards / backwards buttons or by clicking on the drop-down arrow and choosing the date required.
Week - selects the current week's calendar.
Month - selects the current month's calendar.
Agenda - shows a list of upcoming events.
Click on an event for more information, to add the date to your own calendar, access booking information and documents where available.
Click the +Google Calendar logo at the bottom right to open the calendar in it's own page.

Curriculum, Learning and Teaching: Aims

Excellence in Leadership

Implement a comprehensive strategy to foster and maintain effective leadership across all schools, including robust governance structures.
Encourage a culture of continuous self-improvement and collaboration among school leaders.
Prioritise the wellbeing of school leaders to enhance their ability to support both educators and pupils.

Enhancement in Learning and Teaching

Pedagogy is a priority (within curriculum design):

- High quality pedagogy should still be the main driver within curriculum reform and beyond.

- Put the ‘pedagogy’ back into professional learning.

Develop and execute a strategy focused on bolstering literacy, numeracy, and digital competence skills.
Aim to maintain, restore, and accelerate pupil’s abilities in these key areas.
Strive for educational excellence across all schools and settings.
Equip teachers with the necessary tools and knowledge to help pupils develop essential skills that facilitate learning across all subjects and prepare our pupils for the world of work.

Holistic Improvement

Contribute to a school improvement service that is high-quality, trustworthy, and reliable, deeply rooted in core educational values.
Ensure every child and young person has equitable access to excellent educational opportunities, enabling them to make significant progress in their learning.
Foster strong partnerships with schools and educational settings, providing support while cultivating a culture of encouragement and constructive challenge.
Facilitate accurate self-evaluation processes within schools to strengthen and embed sustained improvement, with a sharp focus on pupil outcomes.
