Each conformation has an assigned number that allows for foals to inherit a true reflection of the hidden genes the parents passed to them. While skills are passed at a rate of -5% to +20%, conformation passes at a rate of -5% to +5%. It's a confusing process, so please look at the example below:

The sire has a Smooth coat with a grade of 50.

The dam has a Course G2 coat with a grade 82.

50+82=66

A d11 is rolled using a random number website. The number rolled is a 10, which means +4% is added to the score.

66 + ( 66 x 0.04 ) = 68.64, rounded up to 69.

The foal would have a Soft coat with a grade of 69.
