DARVEROV TRIALS

"-the thin corridor between the Stalz Mountains, my guide tells me, is the sacred Darverov Trials. While no direct translation exists, the land is best described as 'untamable'... or more accurately, 'unsalvagable'. No region has dared entered the Trials in centuries according to their lore - wild Abelsian herds also seem weary of the area. There is no sign of life. To my regret, our sole discovery as to Edward Colton's location has been what brought us to this area. Despite my best intentions, in my subconscious this journey has shifted from rescue to recovery."

Having trained and explored the world at your side, your steed has become Elite - the pinnacle of an Abelsian horse in strength, intelligence and character. You have conquered many terrains and hopefully made some new discoveries on the way, leaving only one gap in your map of the land - where you began. Through a narrow, treacherous path through the Stalz Mountains, you have reached the Darverov Trials. Uncharted even by the wisest of Veselian scholars, the unforgiving landscape holds the promise of many more strange, enchanting, and horrifying discoveries you may regret knowing.

The call of the mountains is something few can explain. It is a deep pounding in your chest, a haunting ringing in your ears. Few have known the urgency to explore the Darverov Trials, but still you find yourself called forward. This is a five prompt quest, which the successful completion of each quest randomly generated. There will come frustration, and new discoveries. The evidence you collect is customised for your quest, meaning no two Abelsia will follow the same path through the Darverov Trials.

- 20% chance of discovering a new species. This species will already have a common name and genus decided, but you get to decide its scientific species name! Your username will forever be on the bestiary page.

General Rules

- Art for the Darverov Trials must be done by the owner of the Abelsia completing the trial
- You can include as many horses in one image as you like, but each horse must have reached Elite individually. Each will receive XP and a loot roll.
- Each horse must be at least 75% visible
- Each prompt has a different successful completion rate. Should your first two attempts be unsuccessful, your third is a guaranteed success.
- The Darverov Trials are the highest honour in Abelsia! Please take time with your entries, and use it as an opportunity to challenge yourself artistically! You have done your duty to explore the world of Veselia and reach this point - but have you explored yourself?

Prompt One: The Gates of Darverov

You come to the Gates of Darverov. A wrought iron gate has been warped out of shape, a crumbled rusted heap as if something has broken in - or out, of the mountain pass. The cliffs of the Stalz Mountains are snow-capped stone walls, leaving you only the option to walk blindly into the uncharted world or turn back. Do you walk forward bravely, or do you doubt yourself?

- Show your Abelsia facing the Great of Darverov.
- 5 XP minimum
- 90% success rate

Prompt Two: The Bridge Of Realms

The Darverov Trials are a thin, narrow corridor: there is only one path to take, despite its challenges. The incline steadily becomes a rugged climb up steep rock faces, and only metres before you would be touching clouds a thin, natural stone arch becomes your only way across a ravine so deep you can only hear the tumultuous rapids below.

- Show your Abelsia crossing a stone bridge over a ravine, or perhaps looking at the bridge suspiciously. I highly doubt that's up to code...
- 6 XP minimum
- 80% success rate

Prompt Three: The Perilous Dark

You have journeyed as far as you can in one day: as the sun sets, the eerie silence of the trials is replaced by the noises of animals you have never heard before. Should you have the misfortune of encountering whatever is making sound, you may at least hope it is daylight. Perhaps setting up a camp for the night is the best idea in this situation.

- Set up camp for the night! This could be a tent, a campfire, or perhaps a small cave you've found sanctuary in.
- 6 XP Minimum
- 70% success rate

Prompt Four: The Coming Of The Dawn

With luck, you have survived the night! The sunlight blinds as it poured into the trials, the glare of snow and white granite walls making the whole world glow. All that is left is to continue the journey forward, into the unknown! Your journey may have been long, but with the end so close - how have you changed over this adventure? Do you think you have grown at all, or have you always been your truest self?

- Show your Abelsia reacting to the ever changing landscape of the Darverov Trials, or reflecting on their journey from a foal to a highly capable creature.
- 7 XP minimum, 200w requirement
- 60% success rate

Prompt Five: The Pillar Of Kings

Finally, the mountainous walls surrounding you begin to level out. The hard stone footing is consumed by lush grass. What first looked like a valley you realise is the peak of a flattened mountain - flattened by who? You turn slowly, and realise you can see all four regions of Veselia. It is the heart of the island nation. An intricate stone circle is laid out before you, surrounding a marble pillar. As your eyes adjust to the unfiltered light, you see words etched into its base in an old language. Columna Regum.
