Call for Papers
ABCD - The First ECSA Workshop on Architecture-Based Continuity
in DevOps
We are soliciting research and experience papers on the topic of architecture-based approaches to DevOps and Continuous Delivery (CD). A key to the success of any large-scale software-intensive system is a solid, well-reasoned and well-executed software architecture. This is particularly true for large-scale platforms that are built upon a strategy of DevOps and continuous delivery. The increasing importance of DevOps demands an appropriate interaction between software research and practice to progress the state of the art and to build a solid foundation of engineering knowledge. As an abstraction of software structures and their visible characteristics, software architectures stand as unifying artefacts around which to build such a body of knowledge. The ABCD (Architecture-Based Continuity in DevOps) workshop aims specifically at addressing this grand challenge, namely, building an Architecture-Based Continuity in DevOps task-force in this first edition. This workshop is aiming at building a tightly knit and cohesive working group around the workshop topics which will focus on the driving quality attributes of DevOps: security, availability, modifiability, performance, and testability.
Papers on the following topics are solicited. Note that these topics are suggestive and that any interesting papers on the relationship between architecture and DevOps will be welcome:
- DevOps/CD and architectural patterns
- The relationships between frameworks and DevOps/CD
- Achieving DevOps/CD qualities through architecture
- Case studies of architecture-based approaches to DevOps/CD
- Design and analysis approaches to DevOps/CD
- Tradeoffs in the design of DevOps/CD-based systems
- Knowledge management of DevOps/CD decisions
- Relationships between DevOps/CD approaches and management decisions and allocations
- Relationships between Architectures and Infrastructure-as-code
- Standards and Architecture Description Frameworks for DevOps
Submissions will be judged on their relevance to the workshop theme and on the likelihood that the authors will make positive contributions to the workshop and its goals.
Important Dates:
- Papers due:
June 11, EXTENDED! June 18 2018 - Notification of paper acceptance: July 3, 2018
- Camera ready submissions due: July 12, 2018
Electronic Submissions should follow the main ECSA 2018 conference proceedings programme (see here) and be submitted online via EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=abcd01
Top accepted workshop papers will be fast-tracked to submit an extended version at the upcoming "DevOps Quality" Special Issue for the Journal of Software Evolution and Process (JSEP).
