i'm sure you have your own blivets -- just things you do. nothing that's apart of a particular series or project, just something crazy or out of nowhere you brought into the world sheerly to bring it into existence.

or maybe that's just me.

NuiMO™ custom

a mini-me, made from a mini-nuimo doll!

sorry, a what doll?

a NUIMO! they're these little plush dolls of popular disney characters that have become quite the fashion statement at the disney parks. many like to dress them up, or dress up like them, and strap them to their backpack strap as an accessory. i like to do this too!

so what's the project?

well, i'd like a NuiMO of myself! a mini-me, if you will! so, why not make one?! it seemed like a fun challenge to tackle, especially being so new to sewing and doll customs. and anyways, i think it's a fabulous power move to have a mini version of yourself as an accessory. THINK OF THE POWER. >:)

jokes aside, i'll be working off of a nuimo of princess Aurora. i plan to edit her hair, and make her little replicas of my clothes, but i won't be changing her body or her face. embroidery is too complicated!

all of the clothing patterns i use come from this lovely person's blog, Disney NuiMOs DIY. what a great resource!

THE SKIRT

the outfit in question we're trying to replicate. it's my favorite!

figuring out pleat width. i eventually settled with 1/8 of an inch.

...pleated? looked pretty funny at first.

the pleats were... not done correctly. fixed it by stringing them through like a curtain, so the skirt circumference is adjustable!

ok, so, i played this little indie game called Indigo Park that i quite enjoyed. anyways, after playing, i came across an amazon knock-off for a plush of the main supporting character, rambley the raccoon, that looked cursed at best and straight up sacreligious at worst.

and i thought

"man, i could make a better plush than that!"

i realized i can make a better plush than that. and so, i did.

the knock off in question. gees, it's worse than i remember.

ok, so... how?

well, after that initial serendipitous thought, i realized something rather important: i've never picked up a sewing needle in my life. i know nothing about plushies, or sewing.

with the help of my mother, i got some cheep felt, and got sewing away, it's crude, bit i've been having a ball with it.

the silly goofy DVD

about a week ago as of writing this (the 20th of november, 2023), i had the random, unprompted, and entirely unnecessary idea to try to get modern videos (created by others, and myself) on a DVD, to watch them on a CRT TV manufactured before I was even born. the result was... exactly that.

the process!

the endeavor proved significantly more complicated than i originally perceived. i first burned one video to a disc as an .mp4 (which the TV couldn't read), then i burned 6 to a DVD as .m2v(s) (which the TV also could not read). I eventually gave up and asked an online CRT group how the heck to get the TV to read the disc, and learned about the process of DVD Authoring. I made a menu, using Gooseworx's original creation "Blester's Carousel" as the backdrop.

so... what's on it?

originally, i was just going to have Gooseworx's "The Darly Boxman Show," but then I just kept adding more videos. the final line-up ended up including the latter, as well as (also Gooseworx's) "Blester's Carousel," Glitch Production's "The Amazing Digital Circus" as well as the pilot of their show "Murder Drones," Iron Circus Productions' "Lackadaisy," and two things made by myself: a ski video from 2022, and an original, silly goofy DVD exclusive, "the kitty carousel," which is just pictures of my cats synced up to Animal Crossing: City Folk music.

given that all content on the silly goofy DVD was originally designed for a 16:9 ratio (with the exception of Blester's Carousel), i had to re-render everything to fit the CRT TV. rather unfortunately, i re-rendered all the videos in 4:3, where i should have re-rendered them to 3:2. it's fine, though.

the question still stands... why'd you do it?

well... why DID i do it?

to be entirely honest, there wasn't a reason. i think that's what i love so much about the silly goofy DVD. there isn't a reason it exists. i didn't have to do it at all. nothing on that dvd needed to be there, and it definitely didn't need to be on a CRT TV. but now, it is. and i'm proud.

attempts at storyboarding

i have always wanted to be an animator, but i have no idea how! any time i've tried (it has its own section below), it hasn't gone well, so i've just storyboarded things instead. i actually quite like doing it. here's a few examples from over the years, with some unnecessarily lengthy explanations. enjoy!

STATUS :: continuous collection; never finished

most recent attempt at storyboarding. back to undertale, once again (the dummy encounter, for you nerds). i borrowed the storyboarding format used by The Amazing Digital Circus (as shared on Twitter). definintly not perfect, but one of the better ones, i'd say.

i'll get around to making it an animatic, at some point. hopefully.

animatic i made for a newscast intro for my school. while i really loved the idea, it was far too ambitious for me to complete. i still feel bad about that.

small animatic i did a long while ago. i even recorded a (bad) voiceover, but i can't autoplay a video on google sites, so i just put a gif in here. at least the software automatically added captions, so that's nice.

as i recall, this was the first ever animatic i ever made. it was obviously never finished, but it taught me a lot. i'll have to find the actual date, but i think this was done in 2019 or 2020.

it was based off of the beginning of Rec Room's Crescendo of the Blood Moon quest, with a few of my buddies at the time.

second storyboard i tried. again, it's undertale related (the muffet encounter, for you nerds). didn't ever go further than this, but i made a background or two to try an animate it. i'll find it, eventually.

first storyboard I ever did. for the nerds out there, it's based on the very beginning of a little videogame called undertale that i really like. i never did animate it, but i'm pretty sure i made a timed version of it with voiced lines and everything. i'll have to dig through my computers to find it, but when i do, i'll throw it here.

my previous attempts at animation

animation has always been an incredible medium, and a huge draw for me. i, however, have no idea how to animate, so my attempts at doing so have always ended up sort of comical, intentional or not. please enjoy some of my unceremonious attempts from over the years!

miscellaneous animation ideas/concepts

not quite animations, not quite animatics, not quite anything. still a formative part of the artist experience, i suppose.

related to destiny, the videogame. yes, that one. never went further than this, and consequently, i haven't played since.

a note about this one: these were character sheet drafts for an animation i had an idea for. it never went past this, but it's worth noting that the dude on the left was supposed to have a speech bubble that said "do you ever think about dying?" prompting the response, "constantly, yes."

3-dimensional blivets

a wonderful mix of stupidity, ignorance, and grit has gotten the image to the left. after some 30 minutes of exploring software Blender for the first time using assets from Splatoon 3. It was bad, and I pretty much never tried again.

a long time ago, during a time uncomfortably close to now, i used to do commissions to draw people's avatars from the once reputable, now roblox-type clone, Rec Room. i enjoyed it, but found it stressful and would have rathered spend my time drawing what i wanted to. it was an era, that's for sure.

looking back, not my favorite work, not my favorite blivet. i honestly just included them in the spirit of artistic honesty.

yes, that's my reddit handle. i wouldn't bother looking at my account, since there's hardly anything on it besides these comissions, and dumb tech questions unsolvable by my, i dare say, INCREDIBLE googling skills. but i guess i can't stop you, or anything.
