Abhishek Ray

I am an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems & Operations Management Department (ISOM) at the Costello College of Business, George Mason University. I am also an Affiliate Faculty at the Institute for Digital Innovation, Business for a Better World Center and at Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy, George Mason University.

Previously, I completed my PhD from the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business, Purdue University, advised by Karthik Kannan, Hossein Ghasemkhani & Mario Ventresca. I have been fortunate to work on interesting research problems with Christopher Quinn, Hong Wan & Thanh Nguyen. I was a part of Mario Ventresca's research group based in the School of Industrial Engineering, Purdue University. During the academic year 2018, I worked as a Research Collaborator at Facebook, Infrastructure Strategy Group.

My work addresses problems at the intersection of Economics, Operations Management and Information Technology & Systems. I use Game Theory, Econometrics & Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning methodologies to frame and solve research problems. 


My ORCID

Before PhD, I graduated from NIT Allahabad with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (2007) and from IMT Ghaziabad with a Masters in Business Administration (2011) (Major: Marketing, Minor: Operations Management). I was fortunate to work on interesting Technology Management problems with Santanu Roy at IMT Ghaziabad.

At Purdue, I completed my Masters in Economics (Advanced Economic Theory) and Masters in Industrial Engineering (Operations Research) in the year 2016 & 2017, respectively. 

Professionally, I have worked in the IT Services industry as a programmer, business analyst and consultant for close to 5 years. I have been lucky to have worked as a researcher for ZENeSYS Consulting, with the founder Saibal Sen.
