Applying Arts Reasoning To Explain/Express  Sustainability

As an entity, sustainability is the ability of a process to be maintained at a certain rate or level.

As a process, sustainability is the creation of a new world with new institutions, products, and relationships that ensure we live within Earth's ecological limits,  And everyone has a fair share of the planet's natural resources.

Reasoning is what we do when we take information, compare it to what we already know, and then come up with a conclusion.  While much of our ability to reason is innate, these skills can be taught and improved upon. Reasoning skills often happen subconsciously and within seconds. However, sometimes we need to think things through to reach a conclusion when we are presented with a difficult question or situation.

Reasoning about change  which addresses the notions of time and change is central to the way we think about the world.

Reasoning skills are essential to day-to-day life: we apply them to make choices among possible options, to distinguish between positive and negative situations, to decide how to approach a problem and resolve it, and much more.

Given Information + Knowledge = Reasoned Conclusion

Reasoning is the process of using existing knowledge to draw conclusions, make predictions, or construct explanations. Three methods of reasoning are deductive, inductive, and abductive.

Deductive reasoning, or deduction, is making an inference based on widely accepted facts or premises. If a beverage is defined as "drinkable through a straw," one could use deduction to determine soup to be a beverage.

Inductive reasoning, or induction, is making an inference based on an observation, often of a sample. You can induce that the soup is tasty if you observe all of your friends consuming it.

Abductive reasoning, or abduction, is making a probable conclusion from what you know. If you see an abandoned bowl of hot soup on the table, you can use abduction to conclude the owner of the soup is likely returning soon.
