I chose to analyze Yuanfudao because I wanted to learn from the leading and most valuable EdTech provider in the world. Yuanfudao has many qualities that have attributed to its success, such as: product innovation, aggressive marketing and pricing, user-friendliness, and a sound mission statement. However, during my investigation, I found myself asking: Can Yuanfudao's model be successful in Western society? Is it a product that can only be successful amongst the East Asian mentality towards education? In the end, I concluded that the Yuanfudao business model is much greater than simply equipping students with AI to prep for examinations. What impressed me the most is their ability to collect and analyze data with AI (e.g. enabling rural cities to have access to the curriculum of top-tier cities). Although this may just be another marketing gimmick, I do feel this strategy can play a key role in my A3 assignment, that is enabling intercultural interaction, levelling the education playing field, and stimulating a global classroom filled with caring and inquisitive young learners.
