Introduction

Throughout my 24 years of teaching, I have provided an innovative learning environment that sparks life-long learning. I strongly believe in teaching the whole child, not just a subject.

Learning should not be compartmentalized and I strive to find transdisciplinary connections whenever possible.  Feedback is one of the most effective ways to improve student learning, so I give regular feedback to guide my students' learning. Educating the whole child is important. In my classes I teach organization, self-management, collaboration and communication. These Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills are vital for success in school as well as in life and I use these same values to build relationships with my colleagues.

Technology enhances learning as well as differentiate lessons. I make frequent use of recorded tutorials for students to self-pace and review. This allows students to push ahead when they are ready and it allows me to focus on students who might need more attention. These tutorials have also found success outside of my classroom with some garnering tens of thousands of views.

This website is used extensively to help students learn the skills they need to be successful designers.
