Ser Douglas Chamberlain or usually known as Douglas or The Watcher, is an invisible man who runs a private investigator office specialized in magic related cases and owner of a coffee shop in the same building with the office.
Douglas wields swords calling arcanum incantations, able to summon various swords with various aspects to help him in battle. His ultimate incantation, however, is a light-bearing sword with a very long blade that could swoop everything in its path. However, due to his origin and peculiar trait of arcanum, Douglas can’t control his incantations and thus almost always has something mundane like a racket summoned to his aid instead and his ultimate can only be summoned when he’s losing his cool. His incantation is triggered by the phrase, “Release”.
Douglas was a knight and a dragonrider under service of His Majesty in the dark age of Dragonrest, knighted after leading a successful assault on a strategic fort. While it is unusual for a rider to be employed under the throne, Douglas is an exception due to his skills in combat and the army needs capable trainers to oversee their training in time of war.
In the assault of Fort Lowpass after he lost his dragon, Douglas fell into a trap, leading to his soul being trapped inside a necklace and thus losing his body. His soul was almost used by the enemies until Bifrost, the God of Time and Space, intervened and offered him his power in exchange for servitude. Douglas agreed and threw to other worlds, and ended up in a city that never stopped raining in the late 90s called Weeping City.
While waiting for Bifrost's command, Douglas spent years training and adapted to the environment of Weeping City, in hope that one day he could go back to his world and get his body back. After roughly twenty years have passed, Bifrost finally commands him to find and stop someone from changing the timeline. In his pursuit of the target, Douglas has to help the local police department as it intertwines with their investigation. After the successful collaboration, the police kept tabs on him for similar cases, urging him to finally establish a private investigator office above his cafe.
As time passed Douglas started to doubt his body would still exist in his world, and decided to start anew while also executing Bifrost's command to stop anyone from altering timeline and dimensions.
