The Academic Association for Organizational Science in Japan (or Soshiki-Gakkai in Japanese) is the largest academic society in management studies, having more than 1,900 members. AAOS publishes the leading peer-reviewed Japanese management journal, Soshiki-Kagaku [Organizational Science].
AAOS has collaborated with the Academy of Management and the European Group for Organizational Studies.
AAOS regularly holds its annual meeting in the autumn. The meeting conducts parallel research sessions, a symposium, and a networking event.
Other than annual meetings, AAOS has its research presentation conference in the early summer. Members can submit their papers to this conference to give oral presentations.
AAOS has long held oral research presentation sessions in Japanese. However, given the rapid increase in international scholars and business experts based in Japan and increased interest in Japanese management studies, we have decided to open our research debates to the world in 2024. The session aims to create a new network of academic dialogue and exchange among researchers from Japan and abroad, conducting empirical studies using data related to Japan or theoretical studies on management issues relevant to Japan.
The special session will consist of short paper presentations (15-20 minutes), Q&A, and feedback from senior scholars (5-10 minutes). The accepted short papers can be published in AAOS’s proceedings journal, AAOS Transaction (optional), under an editorial review process.
