Rules and Policies
The following is the rules and guidelines that each parent and child should follow to ensure a smooth educational experience, and to understand what is expected from you. Rules are set to avoid any chaos, or misunderstandings. Rules are our way of setting boundaries, and to ensure everybody who enters into GOCOT is respected and protected. With this being said the rules of GOCOT Private School are as follows:
Punctuality
School commences at 8:30am, so children are expected to be at school at this time. This will ensure that the child doesn’t have to hustle to get to class and settle in. Allowing the children to practice from young to arrive early for school will encourage a discipline behavior and this practice will follow them into adulthood.
Uniform
Children are expected to be in full uniform at all times unless instructed by their teacher. The uniform is as follows:
Boys:
Purple Checkered Shirt, Brown Khaki Pants and Black/White Sneakers
Girls:
Purple Checkered Dress and Black/White Sneakers
PE Uniform:
Turquoise T-Shirt, Black Pants and Black/White Sneakers
P.S. All uniform will be available for purchase at the school.
Jewelry:
Boys are allowed one simple watch
Girls are allowed one simple pair of earrings, either stopper or small hoop and a simple watch
Any other jewelry is not allowed.
Parent/Teacher Contact Book (PTC book):
Every school year, one of your child’s copy book, should be labeled PTC book. At the front of this book, the parent contact information should be displayed, so the class teacher can have easy access to it. This book will be used as a form of contact between both teacher and parent.
Absenteeism:
When a child is absent from school, a signed note must accompany the child in their PTC book, explaining the reason why the child was absent. No child will be allowed back in the class without this note from their parent/guardian. In some cases a child may be away from school for a more serious medical reason. For these instances a doctor medical should be presented showing clearance to return to school.
Communicable Diseases:
If a child shows signs of a cold, runny nose or even a suspicious break out on their skin, please keep the child at home until symptoms has gone or a medical certificate is presented, indicating that the child is not contagious. Any child who is at school and displays any of these symptoms will be removed from the class and their parents will be contacted.
Threats:
No threats or abusive behavior will be tolerated of any kind towards any member of staff, other students in the school or to other parents. We believe that children practice what they see, so we want to ensure while they are at the institute under our care, such behavior will not be exposed to them. Any abusive behavior or threats displayed on the school premises will result in the child being removed from GOCOT with immediate effect.
Vandalism:
Writing or defacing school property is prohibited. Any child found damaging school property; their parents will have to cover the cost to get such property repaired. If such behavior occurs continually, this child will be expelled from the institute.
Bullying:
There will be a zero tolerance of bullying. Any child found bullying another child will go through these 3 phases. In the first instance the child will be apprehended by the class teacher or principal and a note will be sent home in the PTC book. The second instance, the parents will be contacted to have a meeting with the class teacher/principal. The third instance the child will be recommended to get evaluated by a professional. If none of these work, by the fourth instance the child will be expelled from the institute.
This will be necessary to ensure the safety of all the other children and teachers.
Please refer to these rules whenever the time arises. We at GOCOT, is here to deliver a safe, comfortable, friendly, family oriented environment and to also deliver a lasting educational experience that will “groom our children of tomorrow”.
