About Me
My Story
Hello, my name is Aakash.
This is my writing portfolio where I want to share all the different work that I've cultivated over the years. I have a background in tech, and currently work as a software engineer, but I have always been interested in writing.
I think that my interest in writing began around my last year in high school. I'd spent most of my life already imagining stories in my head, but I think that in that moment I finally had an idea that I could see spawning a novel. So I started writing.
I will admit that my initial inspiration had to be the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan, and how he included multiple perspectives all combining into one larger narrative. So I started writing. I completed the first book In the series and started writing the second. Then halfway through my writing of the second book, life took over and It got shelved temporarily.
Over the next few years I wrote a few articles, short stories, even attempted some poetry, but I was never able to seriously commit back to my series. But that was fine, I learned so much more about writing and discovered how passionate I was about it. Now, five years after I first started seriously writing, I have gone back to my novel series. I completely shelved my initial writing of the first book. And I've started over. I'm hoping that as I continue to develop my book series, Stargazers, I can also spend more time developing articles related to my interests in tackling real problems in our world.
Goal
I want this website to remain as a portfolio of sorts.
It's going to house all of the poetry, short stories, and articles that I will continue to write. I also want to update the Stargazers section with snippets of my writing process and how it's developing over time.
This website is going to be a living, breathing log of my development as a writer. As I hopefully grow in skill, I hope to be able to record it all.
Commonly Asked Questions
What do you consider your best work?
Considering that I have yet to complete any long formatted work, I'll leave this question for the future
What do you see as your major strength as a writer?
I think my biggest strength comes from Ideas. I feel like I have a bucket full of them, and I try to Incoporate them Into my stories as much as possible. One drawback Is that In the past I've created many different stories but I've had a hard time following through with them.
In what ways have you grown or improved as a writer?
From snippets of my older writing I can see that my writing has grown a bit deeper than simply surface level writing. I've tried to make more complex plot lines and I like to think my dialogue has grown a bit more like how actual people talk too. Maybe?
In what areas do you still need improvement?
I think I'm still struggling to 'show not tell'. Something that hopefully gets figured out In editing.
What do you think people will learn about you through this portfolio?
How my writing has evolved, and more about me through It as well.
