Clarie is an arts and higher education leader with over 25 years of experience spanning theatre, performance, opera, musical theatre, dance and festivals. She has held the position of Principal and Chief Executive at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance from 2018 to 2022; immediately prior to this she was Chief Executive of London’s iconic Hackney Empire Theatre for nine years.
Clarie has commissioned, produced and toured projects on all scales across the UK in collaboration with leading regional theatres such as the Bristol Old Vic and Plymouth Theatre Royal, with commercial producers - most notably with Thelma Holt - and internationally with theatres and companies such as South Africa’s Isango Ensemble.
Within the public funding sector Clarie has led on the touring of drama and dance at Arts Council England and mentored arts organisations across the UK as part of the Arts Council funded initiative, Developing Cultural Resilience. As a consultant trainer she has delivered cultural management workshops for the British Council.
Clarie is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts; and equity, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to her professional practice.
Nikki is a state-registered Drama and Movement therapist, Clinical Supervisor (MA, HCPC, Badth), and yoga instructor who works for the National Health Service (NHS) as a Dramatherapist in Childrens and Adolescent Mental Health (Camhs). She is also a guest lecturer at Derby University.
Over the past decade, Nikki has been an Artist Wellbeing Practitioner, implementing and delivering wellbeing procedures with organisations such as the Nottingham Playhouse, The Royal Court Theatre, The National Theatre of Scotland, and the BBC. She has also provided supervision and reflective spaces for artists working in the community. Nikki regularly delivers training on artist burnout and developing a sustainable practice. She is committed to systemic support when creating art.
She has written a paper scheduled for publication at the end of the year that explores the creation of a trauma-informed rehearsal room process. She is currently researching a process for Dramaturge work that supports wellbeing in autobiographical work.
Pia trained as a director at Drama Centre and holds an MA in Actor Training and Coaching from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She teaches at universities and film and drama schools in the UK and Finland, and leads workshops focused on safer intimacy practices. Since introducing the role of intimacy coordinator in Finland in 2019, she has helped to integrate intimacy work into creative education across several institutions. Pia is co-founder of Nordic Intimacy Coordinators and The Intimacy Practitioners’ Guild IPG. She has authored and contributed to several industry guidelines and her chapter on actor boundaries can be found in Stanislavsky and Intimacy (Routledge). Pia’s intimacy coordinator credits include TV series The Boy Next Door, Romantic Getaway, and the award-winning feature film Girl Picture.
John is a writer, performer and career advisor with over 30 years’ experience in the performing arts. As resident career advisor for The Stage, his columns, books and practical video and digital guides have helped many actors navigate the realities of the profession.
John has lectured at leading drama schools in the UK and internationally, sharing tools for building sustainable careers and safeguarding wellbeing. His work has also been featured on BBC Radio and TV, Sky, and other broadcasters. Alongside teaching and mentoring, John focuses on making the industry more diverse and accessible for creatives from all backgrounds.
Lucy is the Collaborative Projects Lead at RADA (formerly Director of Actor Training), a theatre director, coach and equine-facilitated psychotherapist. With over 30 years experience as a director and acting teacher/coach, working in the UK, US, Australia and Europe, and 10 years running the acting programme at RADA, she has developed a creative practice of reflective enquiry, active curiosity, and playful rigour. She integrates wellbeing into her creative practice, supporting actors to fully explore their potential safely. Additionally, she offers equine-facilitated actor training, Act Like a Horse, and has an equine therapy and personal coaching practice, Being With Horses.
