Objectives:
Cover activities related to the general management and coordination of the project and any activities that do not relate to any of the work packages leading to a specific result, but which are directly linked to the project.
Description of work (Deliverables ):
D01 - Project coordination, activity plan management, balancing means, and human resources to achieve objectives. Monitoring of transnational activities, quality management, relationships between work teams and additional support and training activities. Achieving results, producing work meetings, controlling milestones, and facilitating the work of multidisciplinary teams. Ensure that the project is carried out within the plan and that the work packages are successfully completed.
Objectives:
Definition of the scope of analysis. Selection of historical artillery reference artifacts for the project. Chemical analysis of bronze historical collections (target catalog). Analyse the state of external conservation, corrosion chemical analysis. Analyse the state of external conservation due to chemical alteration of surfaces through corrosion and the influence of the environment and climate change. Analyse on stress factors over historical heritage, such as geographic location, climate, pollution, and public access.
Description of work (Deliverables):
D03 - Collection of information of the historical heritage of the participating museums. Definition of categories and types of historical guns. Study on the mechanical typology of historical guns, relationship between technical characteristics and fire capabilities.
D04 - Classification of the types of decorative motives. Study of decorative art and its interplay with practical handling features. Creation of an identification index for methodical organization of shapes and styles, with the purpose of categorizing the available information in a structured way.
D05 - Field missions for direct intervention, chemical analysis of bronze with XRF Analyzer X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer for metal analysis, in selected historical artillery pieces in each of the participating museums. Validation of information collected by the laboratory of CINAMIL.
D06 - Analyse external preservation status, external corrosion chemical analysis. Compare corrosion levels of similar artillery pieces in several museums.
D07 - Over the selected catalog, analyse climate in which the collections are exposed or stored. Study the environment of the places: temperature, direct sunlight, rain, and the stress on metals due to the variation in humidity, temperature, and direct contact of the visiting public.
D08 - Compare the climate and levels of pollution in the places where the heritage is located and the variation of local environmental conditions in an open and closed spaces, and relation to the flow of visitors. Research the results of studies carried out on climate change and produce a sustained analysis of options to be applied in defending the historical collection (bronze guns) on display.
Objectives:
Create a theoretical basis on the evolution of the military bronze industry (technologies) and compare the results on foreign industries and the military bronze industry in Portugal.
Description of work (Deliverables):
D09 - Documentary analysis in archives on the science of military battle in Portugal, 16th-19th centuries. Collection of methods and comparison with the evolving process of military bronze technology in Europe. Consolidation of field-works carried out with the studies on the evolution of bronze technology and on historical artillery.
D10 - Elaborate a comparative technological study of bronze production in the studied period (between the 16th and 19th centuries). Publication of results of the Research Field (Bronze Technology) in a scientific journal.
Objectives:
Create an approximation between the objectives of tourist agents and the local economy, with museums as a driving force. Work methods with the aim of finding new museological practices. Disseminate knowledge about the fight against illegal heritage trade, motivate the citizens to defend cultural heritage. Study of forms of collaboration with national authorities.
Description of work (Deliverables):
D11 - Study for development of collaboration between local tourism agents in the programming of museum activities. Studies of exhibition scripts flexibility for adaptation to audiences, and forms of partnership between local economic agents and museums. Develop a model training program for tourist agents, within the scope of the AABA project and technological perspectives on the heritage under study. Study on new museological practices for disseminating knowledge for a non-academic public in the current context of social and cultural transformation.
D12 - Carrying out studies on ways of preventing illegal trade of heritage, training tourism agents and technicians from institutions linked to heritage preservation. Promoting safety and prevention, through publicizing the work of police entities and publicizing the results of the recovery of works of art, with tourism agents and schools. Collaborate with UNESCO in its work to combat the illegal trade in heritage. Study ways of collaborating to recover heritage stolen in war situations, as seen in Ukraine.
Objective:
The AABA project includes the collaborative production and dissemination of shared data to support the project's research on the needs of the community interested, in this specific case, in the study of military bronze in the period under study (case study). It establishes clear rules for participating in existing and future community development initiatives, digital innovation in cultural heritage and cultural and creative industries, including tourism.
Description of work (Deliverables):
D13 - The website will constitute the digital ecosystem for the project, which will connect the public from universities, cultural agents, and generic users (public and private) as a link for knowledge, dissemination, and preservation of the cultural heritage in synergy with other future initiatives.
D014 - The project will be disseminated through conferences, seminars, and workshops, integrated into the work plans of the AABA project, where researchers and staff from the museums will work together. A set of temporary exhibitions is also scheduled for the public to spread the acquired knowledge and make international military museums known locally.
