Thousands of researchers across more than 500 cities share and discuss their findings with people in their local pub, bar, cafe or public space. In Austria, we have active teams in Vienna, Linz, Innsbruck, Kufstein, Salzburg, and St. Pölten.
Our next festival, #pint26, will be 18-20 May 2026. Website: https://pintofscience.at/
We are happy to announce that the registration for the conference “Regensburg GAP days 2”, taking place in Regensburg on 27-29 July 2026, is now open!
This conference aims to bring together early career researchers in geometric group theory, arithmetic geometry and analysis of PDEs, who will have the opportunity to present their own results.
In mostly parallel sessions, we will provide a stimulating environment for collaboration and scientific interaction between young participants and senior speakers, the latter being:
Mireille Soergel, TU Berlin
Anitha Thillaisundaram, Lund University
Naomi Andrew, Laboratoire de Mathématiques d’Orsay
Katharina Müller, Bundeswehr Universität München
Eugenia Rosu, Leiden University
Oihana Garaialde Ocaña, University of the Basque Country
Lea Boßmann, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg
Céline Grandmont, Sorbonne Université & Inria
Dorothee Knees, Universität Kassel
Elke Wolf, Hochschule München
In addition to the mathematical presentations, we will also feature a lecture on gender studies in academic contexts and two career panels.
Everyone is welcome to participate! You can register here! Limited funding for travel and accommodation is available. The deadline for contributed talks and financial support is April 30, 2026.
More info and details on the structure of the conference can be found at our website. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at womeninmathematics@ur.de.
The 12th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) will take place in Heidelberg, Germany between 13–18 September 2026.
At the HLF, all winners of the Fields Medal, the Abel Prize, the ACM A.M. Turing Award, the Nevanlinna Prize/IMU Abacus Medal, and the ACM Prize in Computing are invited to attend. In addition, young and talented computer scientists and mathematicians are invited to apply for participation. The previous HLFs have been an exceptional success. The HLF serves as a great platform for interaction between the masters in the fields of mathematics and computer science and young talents.
Over the course of the week-long conference, young researchers will be given the exclusive possibility to profoundly connect with their scientific role models and find out how the laureates made it to the top of their fields. As described by a young researcher, “Meeting the humans behind some of the most formidable inventions and discoveries of our time was phenomenal. What was unexpected, perhaps, was how warm and approachable these individuals turned out to be. I am grateful to have been given this opportunity, and to have shared it with peers who I hope to soon call colleagues, collaborators and friends."
Applications for participation at the 13th HLF are open in three categories: Undergraduate/Pre-Master, Graduate PhD, and PostDocs. The application period for the 13th HLF runs from November 2025 until February 2026.
See the webpage https://application.heidelberg-laureate-forum.org for the online application and nomination forms.
For questions regarding requirements and the application process, please contact Young Researchers Relations at: yr@heidelberg-laureate-forum.org .
All applications that are completed and submitted by the deadline are meticulously reviewed by an international committee of experts to ensure that only the most qualified candidates are invited. There are 100 spaces available for each discipline of mathematics and computer science. All applicants will be notified by the end of April 2026 whether or not they are invited.

The University of Vienna is hosting the seventh “Austrian Day of Women in Mathematics” on 25-26 February 2027, organized by the Austrian Association of Women in Mathematics.
The aim of this event is to bring mathematicians together to:
highlight achievements of women and non-binary mathematicians
develop a network which fosters interdisciplinary collaborations
promote mutual support, such as career advice and mentoring
give young women and non-binary researchers the opportunity to present their work
discuss hot topics
Presenters: women and non-binary speakers
Participants: all genders - come and support your peers and listen to their exciting research!
A tentative program with the names of the invited speakers will be published in October.
The organization STEM fatale kindly invites women working in a STEM-related environment to participate in their survey here.
With completing the STEM fatale anonymous survey you can contribute to improving gender balance in leadership positions in STEM fields. In case you have questions, feel free to get in touch with them via brains snail stem-fatale dot com.
Advertise with us! Send us an email about your event.
