We Are Clubhouse International
Introduction
The Self-Directed Learning and Education Resource is an online learning program offered through Clubhouse International. The purpose of the Resource is to provide an online learning experience for training purposes or for those simply seeking to know more about the Clubhouse Model, its methods, and its role in psychiatric rehabilitation. The site's primary mission is to make information and learning accessible to all members of the Clubhouse community and provide an alternative training option to educate the wider community about the Clubhouse Model.
This Self-Directed Learning and Education Resource was developed by the faculty and staff of Clubhouse International. The content information found on the site is organized so that the learner proceeds from introductory concepts, such as the concept of "membership", to the typical types of programs offered by clubhouses, funding support, governance, methods for ensuring its accountability, and its advocacy role in the communities they serve. All content is consistent with International Clubhouse Standards and Clubhouse "best practices".
The Table of Contents presented below is organized around eight Learning Modules. Each module provides information that is essential for the understanding of Clubhouse structure and operation. Each Module includes an overview of the topic, essential and suggested readings, videos, and optional discussion forums and seminars. Although the Modules are organized in a sequential, step-by-step learning format, the site allows "self-directed learning" where the topical focus and the pace of learning are determined by the learner rather than through a prescribed course curriculum. Each Learning Module provides links to optional discussion boards and seminars on Zoom. To view the Learning Modules, please refer to the Table of Contents below or scroll through the left-side topical menu to access Modules and topical training material. For self-directed learning, proceed to the topic of your interest and begin learning at your own pace.
