Leadership is at the heart of every great program, and we're here to help you every step of the way.
A program's professional team can include administrators, teaching staff, and program support staff. We’re here to support each team member’s professional journey and to help your team think and grow together.
From Directors Orientation to the Arkansas Children Program Administrator Certificate to ongoing leadership development and beyond, Childhood Services offers in-person and online sessions to nurture you along your path.
“Participating in A-State’s professional development programs for directors helped me develop effective leadership skills, deepen my understanding of child development, and balance staff leadership with organizational management. These experiences unified my abilities and empowered me to grow into the leader I am today. I still use what I learned and have a network of peers who continue to inspire and support me years later.”
~Nichole Parks, Executive Director of Leading for Children

Directors Orientation
Directors Orientation is a series of foundation-level trainings required for all new directors. Essential to the success of program directors is finding the information they need and developing a network of peers who share and understand their responsibilities. Directors Orientation is the first step toward both of these objectives.

Director Roundtables
Connect regularly with other program directors in your area through Directors Roundtables. Learn more here to find out when your roundtable meets.
New Director Conversations
Designed to provide additional support beyond Directors Orientation, the New Directors Discussion Group is an opportunity to dig deeper into topics most relevant to those new to administrating a child care program.
ACPAC
The Arkansas Children's Program Administrator Credential (ACPAC) is a nationally recognized professional learning experience for directors and other program administrators. Participants concentrate on program management and leadership skills through a combination of seminars and projects.

A few comments from program administrators after completing the professional development experiences offered for leaders,
"We don't often think of our centers as businesses, and we should treat them like a business. We need to make sure our parents and future parents know what makes us different from other programs and what benefits we offer."
"I learned about job descriptions and how to write a good one, and I will definitely be using what I learned to re-write ours this summer."
"How to share what benefits our program has in a way that engages potential families."
"I learned the importance of budgeting and I realize it is not as hard as it seems."
