Happy Earth month! 🌍🌱
We celebrated sustainability and creative reuse on Earth day at the Literacy Kid Lounge + Bookshop. We led an alphabet hunt and waste sorting activity♻️, decorated litter(acy) ladybugs with pieces of packaging🐞, and finished with a recycled tissue paper toss with bubbles! 🫧
A+ believes in treating every day like it is Earth day! 🌈🥳
We hosted a St. Patty's Party at the Literacy Kid Lounge + Bookshop on the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day! We had 13 attendees, between the ages of 1 and 6. We started with a leprechaun story time, and then went into a pot of gold Treasure Hunt!
On the way to the pot of gold, the kids found and read the C-L-U-E-S to explore the lounge + bookshop. There was a fun patch of clover to find, gem and clover bracelets to make, and rainbow bookmarks to scratch off. We snacked on granny smith apples and cheese, to continue with the green-theme! And finally, we sent everyone home with some white clover seeds, to grow little clover patches of their own!
In the month of October 2025, we created a kids-friendly, silly and spooky (not scary) activity-based halloween center called Spooky Garage. The activities were developmentally appropriate for children 2 and up, particularly in the toddler and preschool age groups, with extra challenges for older kids.
We are planning to build on this and do it again in 2026, and look forward to more holiday events in the future!

We created the program with and for local families who were in unexpected need of childcare because of a local preschool break. We were hosted at 2 of the program families' houses, and we switched off between houses every couple weeks. We had 5 kids in our program during the summer months of July and August of 2025. They were between the ages of 1.5 years old and 6, with the majority of them being 3 years old. All of them were considered part-time enrolled, and were signed up for 2-3 days a week. We offered our program 4 days a week- Monday through Thursday- from 7:30am until about 4:30pm.
This program inspired us to want to continue working with kids together because of how successful and rewarding it was for everyone involved!
