LIWP Spring Conference

On Friday, March 31, the LIWP held a Spring Conference as a culmination of the work from the "A More Perfect Union" grant. United States Poet Laureate Richard Blanco was the keynote speaker. Richard shared his poems and his story with the group of educators and college students in attendance. A question and answer session with Richard followed. Participants had an opportunity to write about their ideas from the morning session before a panel discussion from  some of the educators who participated in the grant. The panel shared how the grant work impacted them personally and professionally how they were able to incorporate ideas and lessons into their teaching. After the panel discussion, there was an open mic where audience members as well as participating educators could share their writing and thoughts. Below are scenes from this rich and powerful day!
