Teams of three to four students investigate a crime scenes in order to solve a crime.
Many crimes take place on location. Some occur as students are learning the basic rules of the simulation.
Student actors are used to interact with each forensics team.
Forensics teams are allowed to partake any activity which may be performed in a real investigation. If it is not possible to simulate a request, instructors manufacture paperwork associated with the specific request.
Activities to prepare for the simulation:
Investigation of crime scenes
Review of surveillance videos
Interviews with suspects, victims, and associated witnesses
Analyses of evidence
Forensics teams complete documents specifically designed for criminal investigations as they perform simulated activities.
Finally teams collaborate as they write indictments for suspects they believe are guilty and have enough incriminating evidence to indict.
