Internships
Jun 2023 - Sep 2023
Implemented computer vision-based calibration method for silicon EFEM system load ports and end-effectors
Iterated over different target designs to achieve the best accuracy of tilt calculations solely using computer vision methods
Achieved < 0.05-degree error on measuring tilt of the load ports and end-effectors using a combination of contour detection and Hough lines on varying target designs
Implemented corresponding SQA test cases for calibration fixture and methods
Feb 2021 - Present
Advised by Professor Yang Zhang
Projects:
Embodied Exploration (ASSETS'23)
Leveraging VR and digital twins of physical spaces to facilitate remote accessibility assessment for wheelchair users
Paper accepted for publication in ASSETS’23. See publication here.
I developed the interaction framework, methodology, and scenarios for users to manipulate objects for the user study and proof of concept application.
Integrated Metaverse Avatar SDK into the project and developed UI to allow users to choose from a multitude of avatars, creating a more personalized embodied experience.
I worked on the Hand Interfaces project aimed at developing a novel XR interface to leverage the hand as a controller rather than relying on external hardware for user input
Paper accepted for publication in CHI'22. See publication here.
Generated over 22 unique hand interfaces to replace traditional controllers, bimanual, and unimanual
Implemented 60 anatomical restraints of a hand model in Blender, forming the backbone of the design tool
Co-wrote the paper with Professor Yang Zhang, PhD student Siyou Pei, and Undergraduate student Jaewook Lee
Developed website for accessible information on the project as well as open-sourcing. See the website here.
Jun 2021 - Aug 2021
Created application for HoloLens that simulates next-generation operation and visualization of beamform for the Leonidas system
Simulated steerable high power phased array antenna beamform with MATLAB
Implemented method for rapid beam steering through pre-computing over 32,000 beamforms with different heading
Reduced time to change beam heading from over 3 seconds to 0.0167 seconds through the pre-computation method
Designed and implemented simulation for eliminating drones with robust beam tracking logic for single and swarm targets
Presented working prototype to over 50 people in the company including members of the board
Jan 2020 - May 2021
Advised by Professor Anthony "Xiang" Chen
Worked on the Project CamIoT team, developing a wrist-worn device that visually recognizes household appliances and, via finger commands, allows the user to interact with the appliance
During Fall of 2020, I took over the hardware implementation for the project
Contributed to the improvement of server-client communication and gesture recognition
Implemented new gesture detection method for arm raise, improving detection accuracy by 22%
Contributed to Project CyPhyL, aiming improve the cyber-physical learning systems for instructors and pupils as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, however this project was abandoned.
