"We were cut from the same fabric, you and I. The hands that held our patterns are one and the same. The only difference is the threads we were woven by."
It's... you.
The main character of A Case of Missing Identity. Perdita is a newly-formed Distortion, awake in a lonely world full of beings who fear her and her kind. The cold that buries itself in her core is unbearable, and every night she dreams of a girl who she's never met, yet idolizes as the perfect iteration of herself. Players control Perdita as she learns the rules of life as a Distortion, searching for her Tether and trying to understand her place in the world.
As a character, Perdita's perception and nature is influenced by the player's choices throughout the game. She can be gentle to Humans, save them from their pains at the cost of her kind's safety and own well-being. You can shape her into a wary mind who keeps her distance from Distortions, or even a volatile heart that runs toward happiness at all costs.
This Distortion does not respond to her given title, instead donning the name of Perdita. Prolonged exposure to Distortion's voice induces madness, paranoia and despair in victims; attempts to document this Distortion's voice is unstable, as all victims perceive it differently, and recordings are unintelligible. Victims of compulsive persuasion will feel an intense desire for bloodshed, whether it is their own or any nearby human. It is presumed this Distortion gains more portraits to hide behind with each successful death.
Distortion's desire to kill Tether does not stem from hatred; rather, the Distortion feels an overwhelming sorrow towards her own lack of identity, and wishes to step into the life her Tether lives by all means necessary.

"You don't even know what you've lost. Do you?"
A Distortion to meet in A Case of Missing Identity. The One in the Lotus is a cold, bitter-hearted creature who speaks in poetry and does everything it can to stop itself from forming connections with its kind. Created from a young adult's loathing toward their abusive family and a deep-seated yearn to tear their skin apart, it wanders through the streets of Goldport while looking for its Tether in the hope they're no more of a monster than it is.
Despite its callous attitude toward most of the world (Distortion and Human), The One in the Lotus can't find it in itself to push Perdita away fully. As a character, it has a practical mindset, focused more on survival and making it to Completion than anything else. There's no use weeping for what already has one foot in the grave.

"A monster calls herself a hero, and she allies with a murderer. How far this broken world’s sense of justice has fallen."
A Distortion to meet in A Case of Missing Identity. Wisteria's Heavenly Knight is a grieving lover turned into a monster on her path for vengeance. Believing her Tether to be responsible for the death of her beloved lady, this Distortion has grasped upon a powerful sword called the Warlord's Fang to avenge her death. She will stop at nothing until her lover's murderer is dead - no matter how much power the sword draws from her, how many people must fall, or even how deeply her flesh is warped, she will not rest until she skewers her Tether upon the Warlord's Fang. From the moment she took the sword, her lifespan's clock began to tick. Will she enact her revenge, or will the clock reach 0 before the fated duel?
As a character, Wisteria's Heavenly Knight speaks bluntly and brutally. She has a one-track mind of revenge against her Tether and all other Tetherkind, and will openly push Perdita into becoming a monster alongside her, as it will mean more weapons against those she hates.

"Well! Aren't you a mess? You tremble as if this is the first time you've witnessed a death, little one!"
A Distortion to meet in A Case of Missing Identity. Wrath's Divinity is a sadistic being who gains pleasure out of all suffering, whether from Tethers or Distortions. Formed from a man's sense of powerlessness against a soft-spoken evil that ruined his life, she believes herself to be better than God, and constantly seeks to pull more entities into her mirror in hopes of breaking free and reaching her full potential.
As a character, she always speaks in a light and airy tone, though it's very unsettling when she speaks of harrowing violence like one would the weather. She's constantly guiding Perdita to commit more and more atrocities, all in the guise of becoming strong enough to face her Tether when the time comes.
