I have watched and listen to my brother grieve for days now. I have seen Damon conquer all of our enemies who have tried to separate and tear us down. However, his one weakness has consumed him. Klaus took Elena for sacrifice. Klaus has been trying to break his vampire-werewolf hybrid curse for centuries. Centuries ago, he was cursed by his witch mother to suppress the werewolf side of him. This suppression would limit his hybrid powers to only vampire abilities. Sacrificing Elena would be the key to breaking the curse, but the ultimate downfall of my brother.
He has been emotionally unstable for the past four days. The sorrow in his voice and the pain in his heart is a feeling I cannot fathom or bear to experience. I can not stand to hear his hurt for any longer, so I set off at dawn to bring Elena back to Damon.
I journeyed through the woods to The Quarry. The Quarry is just outside of town, and used to be a quaint and peaceful place. It would be the best place to look, since there have been reports of multiple killings around the area. The sun was just above the horizon when I arrived. I am overwhlelmed with relief when I see Elena, but am brought back to reality when I see Klaus next to her. I quickly hid in the brush as I listened to Klaus' banter.
"You weak, pathetic girl. Damon is not coming to save you this time. I am the Hybrid, the most powerful vampire of all! And soon, when I have your blood, I will become the most powerful creature humanity has ever seen." he smirked devilishly.
"You underestimate Damon. His thirst for power may not be as strong, but the love he has for his brother and the love his brother has for him is something you cannot obtain. That makes him more of a man than you will ever be," Elena cried out.
This struck a nerve in Klaus, as he knocked her to the ground in a fiery rage. I want so badly to rescue her now, but I know it is not smart with her being so vulnerable.
"NEVER SPEAK TO ME IN SUCH WAYS OR NOT ONLY YOU BUT EVERYONE YOU LOVE WILL DIE IN A FATE SUCH AS YOURS!" Klaus was tormenting her and I could not watch any longer.
I speed ran behind Klaus and stuck a wooden stake through his back. Although a normal stake is not enough to kill him, it bought me enough time to protect Elena.
I tried grabbing Elena and running away to safety, but Klaus was too strong and too fast. He pulled the stake out of his body and tackled me to the ground. A fingertip away from ripping my heart out, there was a choke in his breath. Klaus fell to ground beside me, and all I see is Damon holding a stake in Klaus' back in front of me.
"Hello, brother!" Damon exclaims. He looked confident and more stable than ever.
"Why would you come alone and sacrifice your safety for me, Stefan?" he asked me.
"I could not let you suffer without Elena. If that meant risking my life for you, then I would do it over and over again."
"With Klaus unconscious for a couple of hours, it gives us time to bring Elena back home and devise a plan to end Klaus' terror. Thank you for bringing her back to me, brother," Damon proclaimed.
We headed home that night, with Elena and a profound sense of brotherhood. We now both knew that we would go to any lengths to protect her.
Author's Note: I took ideas from Ravana kidnapping Sita in the Ramayana for this story. I wrote about the pain that Rama felt in Damon's character and how Elena would always stand up and defend him, just as Sita would. Stefan acted roughly as Lakshmana, as he would go to great lengths for Rama and Sita. Something to note is that a normal wooden stake is used to kill regular vampires. Since Klaus is one of the original vampires and the original Hybrid, he can only be injured by a regular wooden stake. I left the ending ambigious since it is very hard to kill Klaus in the television series. I wanted to mainly focus around how Stefan would go to great lengths for his brother, and would be willing to sacrifice himself at any moment for his happiness. When speed running is mentioned in the story, it is important to know that vampires run very fast to where it seems blurred to the human eye. In the Ramayana, Rama and Lakshmana cared about Sita in different ways. I wanted to portray that in this story, to show that Stefan knows how much Elena means to Damon. Even though in the show, Stefan and Damon form a love triangle with Elena, I excluded that to focus more on the brotherhood theme.
