-Louie Suljovic
During a time of increased anti-Asian violence in the U.S., many — including the New York Police Department — have lauded Louie Suljovic and his father as heroes for intervening in the attack.
Aferdita Suljovic said that her son's actions were ultimately unconditional.
"It was a human life, that was the most important thing to him," she said. But she hopes that her son's actions will change the way people approach these incidents.
"I hope we change; we need change," she said.

To all our Asian/Pacific Islander communities, friends and colleagues,
We know that you are going through an extremely difficult times with the Pandemic, Racism and Hate. As you know, news outlets are reporting a frightening increase in hate crimes against Asian Americans. Racism in any form is deeply unacceptable, and this is a time our TEG, and ALL of US, must speak out! We would like to hear from you and offer some initial suggestions:
1. If you attend events AGAINST RACISIM, HATE, VIOLENCE, please take photos of the rally and yourselves. We can use these in a prposed article for MTA Today and elsewhere.
2. Please send us your thoughts. We would like to hear your reflections on racism in the Asian experience or related. We would especially like to hear of any personal incidents, if you wish to share. These too may be excerpted for the proposed article. If so, we will contact you first (and please indicate if you prefer confidentiality).
3. Please use your social media to help push out our Anti-Hate messages, now on MTA screens across the system.
This issue affects all of us and demands ongoing discussions. These are three steps our TEG can take right now.
In Solidarity We Stand! Stay Safe - Protect Yourself and others. Unity Counts! If you see something, Do Something! Please email your photos, thoughts, and quotes.
