SW Herts Local Projects

Welcome to SW Herts Local Projects

Thank you for showing interest in Local Projects. What you will find on this website will be links to a wide variety of community based projects that are being undertaken by us the people in the community.

One of the most frustrating things for any community group is to make people aware of what they are doing. Not for self gratification but because the more people that know, the more people can benefit.

This website has been set up to act as a kind of directory of all local groups all located in one place so that it makes it easier to share with others and for people to find groups they might be looking to engage with.

Making things happen in our community is our responsibility

There are so many things that need doing in our community. There are people living on the streets, there are people who live alone and rarely see a soul from one week to the next, whilst others still, having to make decisions between heating or food in the winter time. All living amongst us in our own neighbourhoods.

It is WE who must crack challenges like this. There is no other resource large enough to tackle it. We need to get the community back together and look after each other. There is a saying it takes a village to bring up a child, well... it also takes a village to look after an old person too. All of us are able to play a part in community re-building.

Doing what you want, when you want, for as long as you want

Some of the biggest challenges we have in the voluntary sector are the rules, regulations, and bureaucracy. It has become a difficult process to become eligible to volunteer, many fail the process for one reason or another.

There has to be a better way. What if we were all able to contribute doing something we were good at, when we wanted, for as long as we wanted. If we could just get ourselves organised, then we could connect those with a talent, with those who have a need and, we'd have it cracked. That sounds like a good idea!
