America has been dealing with racial issues since the 1600s, when the first slave ship hit American shores. This deepened with the Civil War as statues of men that fought on the Confederacy were erected in after their loss. These statues were left ever since as one of the many reminders of America's deep racial issues. Recently, more and more of them have been taken down, causing controversy and marks in history. With the recent removal of Robert E. Lee's statue in Virginia, it makes waving impacts in not only the nation, but the community built around it.
