Ellicottville is a great place to visit at any time of the year. We have the main skiing and winter sports listed for you. However, we also created a list of the activities that you can enjoy during Spring, Summer and Fall!

Skiing and Winter Activities

Holiday Valley: located across the road, there are both Downhill and Cross Country skiing trails. Check out their interactive ski map to see what is open and the difficulty levels.

Holiday Valley Tubing Park: not part of the main park, the tubing park is just a couple of miles away and a great way for everyone in the family to enjoy winter sledding

Holimont: this is a private ski club just a few minutes away that opens the runs to the public during the week.

Kissing Bridge: this resort is a little further away, but provides a little variety if you have a longer stay

Allegany Nordic: find great information about Cross Country skiing and great trails in the area

Snowshoeing: with all of the amazing winter snow, getting out on snowshoes is a great way to spend an afternoon

Snowmobiling: there are a lot of trails around the area, and the NY association can help you with any questions

Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides: you need to call to see if they are offering them during the season, but it is a fun family event during the holiday season.

Equipment Rentals

All of the resorts have rentals. If you are thinking of skiing in multiple locations, getting rentals at a local shop it a great idea.

Spring, Summer, Fall Activities

Hiking

In Ellicottville: There is great hiking all over the region. From short jaunts to long hikes, there are great places to discover. You can even short cut your way to the top of the mount by taking a ski lift. Both Holiday Valley and Holimont have options during the summer.

Just Outside Ellicottville:

Little Rock City - there is a great part just a few miles away. There are two trails that will get you into the rock formations. It is a great day and you can walk through the rock formations.

McCarty Hill State Park- there are several trails in this park. The quickest access is to take the road right before the Dollar General on Route 219. There are also bicycle trails on the mountain as well.

Allegheny State Park - There are two main areas in this park - Quaker Run and Red House Area. There are more trails and activities in the Red House area, but are great for a quick day out.

Letchworth State Park - Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

Biking

You can rent bikes at Holiday Valley including fun eBikes that let you zoom up the mountain. Whether it is the flat route into town, or the great trails on top of the mountain, there are a lot of options when you are on two wheels.
